Conversion of a Single-Family House into Two Apartments in Brussels

Project Equinoxe involves the conversion of a single-family house into two high-end rental apartments. Each unit has been rigorously optimised for space, with comfortable home offices designed for remote working.

Apartment 1 — Rift-cut oak, fluted glass and 1950s references

The first apartment develops an aesthetic built on material warmth and precision of detail: rift-cut oak, fluted glass, Romano Light quartzite, glass blocks, and ceramics in small and large formats.

The bespoke joinery draws on the 1950s–60s, the era in which the house was built, with its rounded profiles and oversized solid oak handles. A palette of warm tones combined with greens creates depth and contrast.

Apartment 2 — Cathedral volume and bespoke kitchen

The second apartment has a more contemporary character. The living room makes full use of the roof height with a cathedral-style layout.

The fully bespoke kitchen exploits every corner of the sloped spaces, combining two laminates: one in a red-brown wood effect, the other a flat blue-grey.

The dual-flow ventilation and appliance extraction are concealed within the lateral panels. The palette plays on variations of burgundy and gradients of blue.

Full technical renovation

The renovation meets the latest energy efficiency standards: enhanced insulation, dry screed with underfloor heating, dual-flow ventilation, heat pump, solar panels.

Lighting was the subject of a dedicated study.
